hi,
any planned support for ODBC?
if not, anyone want to point me to the relevant files to look at when building new database support and i'll take a crack at it?

We did look at integrating ADODB as the database layer into the 1.3.x codebase, but it didn't pan out. This would provide ODBC connectivity. If you want to try to get into the coding, try integrating the ADODB layer into it! Aside from the ability to use different database engines, it also provides a cache layer that would help GL out considerably.

Not as many as we would like. WHat you need to do is grab the CVS copy of the code, a copy of ADODB (google search on this), and look into the lib-database.php file. The common idea was to write a 'bridge' between the ADODB class and the function used in lib-database.php ... the man you want to pin down and question is Tony (IA-Outdoors). Try catching him in IRC or via email.

Actually, if you check out from CVS using the label "db_hell" you will get the sources from the point were we gave up on trying to integrate ADODB ... In other words, it did not work - but it may give you an idea on how to attack it.
