Loading a splash screen

This may not be a 100% geeklog question but I am sure somebody here can answer it (: I have my geeklog site fully up and configured at my domain name, I now want to add a splash screen, you know a graphic that pops up when the user first hits the site. I am trying to figure out a clever way to do this so I don't have to rename my index.php file. Any clues?
Thanks!

That depends on whether or not his server is configured to look for
index.php before index.html. If so then he's out of luck. The
only other way I can think of is to put the GL install one directory lower
than /public_html (as in /public_html/geeklog) then put the index.html in
/public_html.

See here for an example of the directory solution above (note that if you've visited Thane Community before, you will not see the splash page again as it sets a cookie that will automatically redirect you to the GL site proper if you've already visited the splash page, in which case you can see the splash page again by going here).

I think most servers default to look for index.html first. If his doesn't, he can always add a directoryindex to .htaccess file to change that.
