Integrating Paypal Subscriptions
alde
Anonymous
Just wondering if anyone's taken the time to integrate Paypal's Instant payment notifaction and their subscriptions management into geeklog.
The idea would be to run a subscription web site, have everyone pay thru paypal, and then have their server side script add a new user or update a user and add them to a group, as well as set a "Subscribed Date" and "term" field in the database.
This way a user could sign up as a normal user, and then upon payment be assgined to a "paid user" group which then would allow access to subscription materials...

Actually this is very easy to do if you sign up with a service such as ccbill.com. The way it works with ccbill is that through their service users can sign up on your Geeklog site. All you need to do is give ccbill access to the directory you want to protect and ccbill will automatically add/remove users to the .htaccess file. So while anyone can sign up to Geeklog, no-one can go into the protected folder unless they are a paid subscriber.
Hope that helps you porn folk out there. Send me some kick-backs...

Hmm... I would prefer the subscription to be directly integrated with
GeekLog and using a quasi-FREE subscription gateway such as PayPal.
That way, I have complete control over access to any
area of a geeked site.
