Over the past 3 months since I created my GL site, I continue to get new users registering. It was designed to be a site where my friends and I post. Thanks to search engines, people are finding the site and registering.
I want to remove the option from the login block and can not find where the link is hidden or an option in the Config.php to turn it off. Help - I only want to create users myself.
And I do not want to password protect the whole directory, forcing a double login.
The site is www.dyntech.com/csk

Do a quick search in this file.
On line 104 (around that one) you find following string:
Just replace that with something like
59 => " ",
Done !
Now make sure that your new user settings are simular to anonymous users in case you have "private" parts on your site, since this will only remove the link to http://www.yoursite.com/users.php?mode=new and not prevent them from registering.
But that´s another question

You could always stick a robot.txt in your root directory with following content.
Text Formatted Code
User-agent: *Disallow: /
This will drasticly decrease your popularity
