I have been working on updating the filemgmt plugin and have just uploaded the first Release Candidate for testing on my site here

I have not updated the install_doc but the upgrade from 1.2 only requires you to replace the plugin files.

This was my first plugin that I wrote some 2 years ago, when I think there was only the staticpages and journal plugin around. It's great that it has not had any major issues but there was code that needed to be updated, new features to add and bugs to fix.

The changes include the following:
  1. Admin can now replace any files online. When editing an entry, you can upload a replacement file or replacement thumbnail
  2. The permissions for new files will be changed and the mode can be set in the plugins config.php
  3. I am now using a more standard plugin file structure.
  4. Re-wrote the plugins install and de-install function to be more standard and consistent with other plugins
  5. Added logic to filter out any possible hostile data in the form of Cross Site Scripting Attacks. This was done for all the public accessed scripts.
  6. Search now properly handles quotes
  7. Added support for the 1.3.9 WhatsNew API function. New files will now show up in WhatsNew Block
  8. Added support for the 1.3.9 RDF export feature. So now it should be possible to export your new file listing as a RDF feed.
  9. Will now use the GL 1.3.9 COM_mail function for notifications
  10. Admin scripts will now use the admin url setup in the geeklog main config.php
  11. Re-Wrote the Comment API functions
Review the new config settings in the plugins config.php

Let me know how testing goes so I can address any issues and get this plugin ready for a general release.

I have just released RC2 now on my site www.portalparts.com and the download link is the same as above.

This version fixed a few items and added a few other missing features. There is now an Upgrade Script that needs to be run. The script is in your admins/plugins/filemgmt folder and called upgrade_v1.2_to_v1.3.php

This script will update all the filemgmt comments to the new format I am using. The SID field needs to change. It also updates the plugin version identification. I added logic to the upgrade script to only allow it to run once. It checks that the plugin is installed and you are running version 1.2

Changes:
  • Older filemgmt comments will now be displayed
  • Upgrade script added and now required
  • Added logic to support delete comments
  • WhatsNewBlock will show new comments that have been added to files. This can be disabled in the plugins config.php.
Since I can not add a new header for the comments, I added a C: in front of the titles in the listing. You can see the effect on my site.
Copy over the new code. Changed files are:
- config.php
- functions.inc
- the new upgrade script under admin

I have not updated this. I think I will wait for the final.
Just to busy now.
But hey can you add a mod to this were they can add and approve files extra.
But not have access to the sittings.
There is just no reason I can think of that any one other thin the Admin needs to have access to were the files are uploaded.

Will there be a fix for the https problem I found a few months ago? I'd make a donation if I could use it, but I can't since the site I want to use it on is HTTPS

I think I posted it in the forums on your site, with the error I was getting. In short, file management just doesn't seem to work at all on an HTTPS site (as I recall). It seemed there was an HTTP hardcoded in at least one place somewhere.

Great news! I'll have to give it a run on my test system.

I couldn't see any notes on this in the changes you've listed but the current 1.2 version has big problems with quote-marks in the file's title field as these characters would get passed verbatim to the SQL and were not sql-escaped.

Can you confirm whether this is fixed?

Thanks! Greatly looking forward to a new version.
