When geeklog creates a new user account, it says that has sent him a e-mail with the password, but it's not true. I have checked carefully the email section at the config.php, and I think that everything is correct. I have tried the backend with 'mail', 'sendmail' and 'smtp' with the proper settings, but doesn't work anyway. Any suggestion, please?

Do you have any special characters in your site's name (i.e. in $_CONF['site_name'])?
Remove any colons ':' and dots '.' that you may have in there and try again.
This should be fixed in 1.3.10.
bye, Dirk

I was having the exact same issue. I am running the same version so I changed the site_name in the config.php.
After I try it, I get errors. you can view them at www.silver-beard.com
Can you help?

it seems that your editing process added whitespace either before or after your start/end tags. After I try it, I get errors. you can view them at www.silver-beard.com

It was the spaces at the end. Thank you for such a prompt reply!

Hi,
Let me first say I really like Geeklog (as this is my first post here).
It seems the problem still persists if you use following characters [] in the site name.
I removed them and is working fine.
Using GeekLog v1.3.11
Best Regards,
Boris

Do you mean the square brackets? Or were there some characters between the brackets?
Anyway, I have a suspicion that Geeklog has to handle more characters specially. But at least the code to do that is in one place now. The next time I have problems sleeping, I'll spend some time with RFC2821 again and try to figure out what the problem is ...
In the meantime, can someone open a bug report for this, please? And list any characters that seem to cause problems.
bye, Dirk

The square brackets seem to do it.
I added a bug report for it.
http://project.geeklog.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=368&group_id=6&atid=105
Hope it was detailed enough and don´t let your sleep over it.
Best Regards,
Boris
