That's right. Geeklog 1.3 is now available for public scrutiny and enjoyment. All Geeklog users are recommended to upgrade to the new version. Dreading the upgrade? Well don't, the new installation script will make installing Geeklog easier than ever!

So why don't you Download Geeklog 1.3 now!

There is no config.php in the install folder

I cant istall, geeklog coz there is no config.php file 2 edit
in the new 1.3 at sourceforge.net

but language packs are not in the download, i read that a french-France and a french-Canadian are available. aren\'t they ?

Check this site often. As I get the translations well post the language files here. I didn\'t get any language files prior to doing the release. I figured I\'d still release without them. If I get some in before the next 1.3.x release then I\'ll include them at that time.

Hi, Tony.

I\'m trying to make the Portuguese translation (75% finished), but now I in a little-big trouble: I can\'t install Geek 1.3 on my Win98+Apache+PHP4.10+MySQL3.23.46 machine :-(

Tried install script, but \'cause of the \'\\\' , don\'t work.
Tried manual setup, with no sucess too...

I have other stuff\'s running , like myphpnuke, phpwebsite, phpbb2.0, yerba, and never had a problem like that...

It\'s possible to make one \'win package\' of Geek? I\'m very interested in make the translation, and use Geek, but I don\'t have condition to stay online all the time to test/customise my sites, and don\'t have skills to use Linux at this time.

Install script should work OK on Windows. The manual installation DEFINTELY should work. What steps did you follow exactly while doing the manual installation?

Following your instructions to make a manual install, and with no sucess, I have made a little solution:

Instead of use absolute paths, I'm using relatives in config.php and lib-common.php:

Like this for config.php:

$_CONF['path'] = '../';
$_CONF['path_system'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'system/';
$_CONF['path_html'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'public_html/';
$_CONF['path_log'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'logs/';
$_CONF['path_language'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'language/';
$_CONF['rdf_file'] = $_CONF['path_html'] . 'backend/geeklog.rdf';

and this for lib-common.php:

include_once('../config.php');

The install script dont work for me, because you're using absolute paths , and when the config.php is generated, it display:

$_CONF['path'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/';
$_CONF['path_system'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/system/';
$_CONF['path_html'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/public_html/';
$_CONF['path_log'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/logs/';
$_CONF['path_language'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/language/';
$_CONF['rdf_file'] = 'c:wind95desktopwwwgeek/public_html/backend/geeklog.rdf';

The script-added slashes are are all 'unixed'.

When I install the database after this pass, I can't login, post messages, set preferences, etc.

But dumping the tables and data with phpMyAdmin, all ok.

I'll send you my translation in the next days, for inclusion in the next minor update ;-)

In my windows install my slashes are inter-mixed and it works fine. Most of the PHP file system commands are smart enough to compensate. The only real problem I had with windows was a whitespace at the end of critical files.

I\'ll see if we can\'t get the slashes thing completely figured out so it does the right one depending on your OS in the next release.

When I try to browse the links.php file, the categories just prints out are the same all the way down the page, why?

I\'ll look into this. It\'s probably a simple bug in my use of the templates. I\'ll try and fix ASAP and post a fix here. In the meantime submit it as a bug by clicking \"Submit a Bug\" in the header of this page.

This is fixed in CVS in the geeklog-1.3 tree. Either grab it there or you can get it with the next minor release of Geeklog (probably within the next week).

Whenever I try to submit a news on my site (s6x.dk), I get this error: mysql_errno: You have an error in your SQL syntax near \'\' at line 1

In my logfile it says: Tue Dec 18 14:43:41 2001 - 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near \'\' at line 1 SQL in question: SELECT username FROM users WHERE uid =

This is weird, because it just started right now.

I have this error also. It appears to be something on my computer, not the server geeklog is setup on. I can go to another computer on my internal LAN and things work fine. But on this machine any edit function returns the error. I have compared settings in internet explorer but cant find anything different.

I also got this problem.. all i did to fix this was to run up2date php and up2date mysql.
When all was finishd and installed, i restarted mysqld and httpd, and ewerything worked just fine :)
