There has been some confusion about the template changes in Geeklog 1.3.5, mainly due to the fact that they were poorly documented (i.e. not at all, really). Apologies for this on behalf of the team and here is a list of those changes that I also posted to the geeklog-devel mailing list:

In your footer.thtml, you have to have a variable 'right_blocks' (in curly brackets) which specifies the position where your right blocks will show up. Accompanying that, you need a file called rightblocks.thtml which contains code that was previously hard-coded in Geeklog (just copy that file over from one of the existing themes).

There are new templates for the featured story so that you can give the featured story a different layout than your other stories. You need the two files featuredstorybodytext.thtml and featuredstorytext.thtml (or simply copy and rename storybodytext.thtml and storytext.thtml, then all stories will look the same).

Then there are two new files list.thtml and listitem.thtml which describe how lists should be formatted (again replacing HTML code that was previously hard-coded). For starters, you can simply copy these over from another theme.

N.B. The list templates are currently only used for the What's New block, portal blocks and the older stories block.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion. Please keep in mind that we did these changes so that you have better control over the look of your site.

bye, Dirk
