It shouldn't be too hard to pull the code for the Top 10 Stories from the stats page and make a block from it ...

Let me know if this was what you had in mind.
I also think it may be nice to see the top 10 commented stories as well.

Never got a reply for what was a special request. Lesson learned ... If anonymous users can't take the time to register and identify themselves then maybe it's not worth my time as well.
