First I would recommend changing the password for your admin and moderator accounts. As it is, people could reek havoc on your Geeklog install.

Have you tried changing the charset in config.php and your language file to unicode?

Is your theme's header.thtml correctly setting that charset in your pages? Why don't you post a link to your site, as well?
