I know where the images are for stories, but where is the html for each story saved so i can backup

Hi Garfy,
The "html" of the stories are generated on the fly.
The actual content of the stories are stored in the database.
You can (should) make regular backups of your database with the online admin tools or any other means like phpmyadmin or mysql manager.

So it is on the server and i can not reach it with my ftp program
I have to to use server mysql program and can i download it to hd or not

The backup program under the "Admin Only" area will allow you to backup the database. After backing up you will see the backup tarball in your geeklog/backup directory, from where you can download it to your hard disk using ftp.
You would also find at least one other backup plugin in the "Downloads" area of this site which allows you to backup directly to your hard disk without having to pick up later using ftp.
Another way is to use your systems control panel like, CPanel, to backup. Or export it from PHPMyAdmin. Planty of choices!
