I was trying to make backups of my geeklog database, now I when I go through the admin section and do a backup, it creates the file, but doens't backup anything because the file size remains at 0KB.

What could this be? an error in the login to the DB?

This seems to happen when the web server doesn't have the proper permissions to execute the mysqldump utility. There's not much that Geeklog can do - try talking to your hosting service.
