I have completed the first step of installation, but when I click on "next" in the 2nd step i.e. says "the page cannot be found". Why?

Make sure your $_CONF['site_url'] is correct.

The install script probably went through just fine, it just couldn't find the page telling you so. So if you fix the URL, you should be able to use the site without running the install script again.
