I have released the first upgrade to the phpBBBridge plugin. Version 0.60 fixes a number of large bugs with the previous release and adds a couple of nice features. If you have downloaded version 0.50, be sure to upgrade.

Please read through the enclosed readme thoroughly, as much of it has changed and it still contains a lot of very important information.

You can currently download the plugin from my site. Once Dirk has approved the file, it will be available from this site as well.

Changes:

• Fixed some phpBB session creation and keep-alive bugs.
• Added a link to the user's private messages in the GL user's block.
• Fixed some errors in the readme and added some new info.

Not that I know of. If anyone finds a script, please let me know. I am planning to write one for the next major release, but there is no ETA on when that will come out. An existing script would speed that along.

I was wondering if it's possible to make modifications to the phpbb forum itself without affecting Geeklog.. can you tell me globally what is possible and what is not?

for instance: will this work with phpBBBridge?

I've got twelve different mods installed. However, the trick is to get phpBB2 running the way want, then integrate. Otherwise you will need to change some variable names by hand. Most specifically, the "Template" variable.

Theming of any sort really shouldn't be a problem. As far as mods are concerned, unless it makes major changes or seriously affects the USERS table, I can't think of a problem off the top of my head. Then again, no one has tried anything of the sort. I haven't even installed any mods, myself, but I tried to write the code to be as self-contained as possible.

It would be great if you wanted to try to install it and then tell us how it went and what mods/theme enhancements you used.

And Byte, integrating new mods and themes really shouldn't be a problem even after you install the integration. Just run the perl command to rename the template variable on the new files before you install the mod. In the next release, I am going to recommend using BBtemplate instead of BBTemplate for the new name. This will allow you to install the mod and then run the perl command on the entire directory again without any ill side-effects.

True. My logic is as follows. I recommend installing all your mods first and get them working with phpBB2 first, then run phpBBbridge. This eliminates any GeekLog/phpBBbridge issue's, i.e., you know that you are only dealing with with mods that broke phpBB, and not some GeekLog integration issue.

However, if your comfortable with GeekLog, phpBB2 and web programming (php/mySQL), then there is no reason to use my logic. Basic troubleshooting rule is that you divide and conquer, thats all.
