My install of Geeklog went very smoothly except for one hitch--I didn't actually look for the install file in my directory tree and kept getting an error message when I used the address given in the docs. As I unpacked the geeklog-1.3.11.tar file, it created a "geeklog-1.3.11" directory. From there, this is the path to the install file:

/public_html/admin/install/

However, the docs that I consulted indicated that the install file would be at:

http://yourgeeklogsite/admin/install/install.php

And they also mentioned:

http://yourgeeklogsite/admin/install/check.php

These are the docs in question:

http://wiki.geeklog.net/wiki/index.php/Installation_Instructions

If anyone does update those files, you might also mention the "pwd" command (from the unix command prompt) to find out the path to the current directory. I read about that somewhere on this site, but I don't think it is on those pages. Other than that, everything was very intuitive. Thanks!

The documentation is correct. If you need a "public_html" in your URL, then your installation is not correct.

I'd suggest re-reading the bit about public_html in the installation instructions.

My mistake--thanks for the reply... But perhaps it would warrant another mention in between steps 1 and 2: Move the contents of the Geeklog "public_html" directory to the original "public_html" directory on your servers (sometimes called "htdocs" or "www" -- see above).

Just a thought...
