I have put everything in these are the file locations

/htdocs/geeklog/private_html/ (system files)
/htdocs/geeklog/public_html/ (public files)

when the installer asks me for the location to the db-config.php this is what I put in

/htdocs/geeklog/private_html/db-config.php

then it says

Installation Error
The path "/htdocs/geeklog/private_html/db-config.php" does not appear to be correct. Please go back and try again.

When I move the private files to the /htdocs/geeklog it works fine but if I use .htaccess it willl block public_html too, what do I do?

Hmm. Check the permissions on your private_html directory (and the db-config.php). They need to be accessible for the webserver.

I have checked the permissions they are 755 but when I put the private_html files one derectory lower it works fine as I mentioned (the installer script finds it). But if I use .htaccess it will block out public_html too.

I am really good at this kinda stuff but I have no idea what is wrong.

EDIT Agian: Nvm my idea did not work (if you saw it posted forget it) did not work so back to square one. I have a private_html folder and a public_html folder and I am currently blocking all the files and subdirectories of private_html with a .htaccess file.

I have fixed my problem and what I did was is I put the system files in the directory that the public_html was in. I setup everything and then I looked at the path to the logs and so on and here it is

/data/1*/1/3*/8*/15*97**/user/16*55**/htdocs/geeklog

so it turns out that network solutions has this weird path for the root so if you are having a problems similar to mine that is a way you can find the path to the root of your site or if you can find a much easier way please let me know.
I put the stars there to block out some of the numbers because that is some of my account information with network solutions.
