Still a significant distance from my objective, but I thought I'd make a place to show a few pics of my progress here and there...
start with a picture of the album editor. Not all options are visible at all times so don't get your pants up.
here is one of the splash page, which can be turned on or off.
The gallery style defaults to what Geeklog theme you are using, thus the colors of these pics only reflect my current Geeklog theme and are not Inmemoriam colors. However, I do plan on allowing styles from a selection to be applied to individual albums.

here is the general admin settings page.
OH, but you want some pics of the actual album pages where the pics are! Well, you'll have to wait until I finish rewriting my image class. Currently Inmemoriam only supports the GD library. I'm rewriting it to accomodate those libraries that Geeklog supports, i.e., netpbm and imagemagick, as well as gdlib.
Anybody who wants to send me a generic geeklog watermark (png), feel free--though this is one of the last things I'll be workin on.

Time to vote: should the ability to comment on and/or rate an image be set at the album level or the individual image level? ATM it is set at the album level, but hey, I aim to please so let me know what you think.

Why not do both and make it a configurable option? I personally would prefer image level comments but I can see the reasons for album level comments.
Yes I am mental.

In the meantime, here is another taste for you--this is the almost finished media editor/upload page.

Actually, I have no intention of implementing comments on an album level. I should have been more specific. Comments will be implemented on an image level only, but my question refers to whether to where I should put the checkbox: in the album editor making the decision for all images in that album; or in the image editor affecting only that image. Does that make more sense?

Sorry guess we were on different pages. My vote says make the checkbox album level.
Really looks great, I can't wait for this one.

Looks great !!!
I should have looked before my last comment.
Will you be able to (if you release it) call it something other than InMemoriam.

Yup, any heading or page title, etc. can all be found in the language file. however, the directory is hardcoded. I could prolly change that and put it in config, but we'll see.Will you be able to (if you release it) call it something other than InMemoriam.
I have a sister mid-island so I get over once in a while--i just go for the ferry rides. I'm in the burbs--in Abbotsford--ok, the sticks.

I look forward to checking this out. My vote on the comment/rate thing: keep it at the album level.

Are you going to the airshow? Or is that just for tourists?

I went once a few years back, but now I just sit on my roof and watch. The price of water at my house doesn't bankrupt me.

I don't mind if you all want to make suggestions...
Here is a look at the main album browsing page. This is just a preview--frames and themes, etc. have not been completed yet.

Hey that looks pretty sweet. I'm actually a new user to Geeklog, but I was wondering if this project of yours allows for a customizable layout - or is that defaulted over to the overall GL? Heh, don't get me wrong, I have total confidence in your design skills, I just like to design layouts myself
nice work

In the end you will be able to control the layout and style of any album distinguishing it from any other album via album themes. The style from these themes will be reflected on the main index page per album summary. The layout of the main index page is editable from the main style sheet. ...and of course you can mess around with the template files all you like.
You will have the ability to add new album themes simply by naming and placing a style sheet in the appropriate place and making that known in config.php. The framework is all there already.
My goal, in this regard, is to ensure that the gallery is as easily customizable as Geeklog itself while at the same time being easily integrated into any current GL theme.
e.g., here is the album summary template that displays summaries on the main index page as you see it here:
<div class="{class}">
<h2>{albumname}</h2>
<a href="{albumlink}"><img src="{src}" alt="{alt}" title="{title}" /></a>
<ul class="inm-summdetails">
<li><span>{langowner}</span>: {owner}</li>
<li><span>{langimages}</span>: {images}</li>
<li><span>{langsubalbums}</span>: {subalbums}</li>
<!-- audio/video/code not yet supported -->
<li><span>{langhits}</span>: {hits}</li>
</ul>
<p>{description}</p>
<div class="inm-clear"></div>
<p class="inm-linkrow">
{addlink}{editlink}{viewlink}
</p>
</div>

Here is the latest pic: it is your basic album view (thumbnails) without frames or a theme applied (because I haven't created those just yet).
The number of thumbs per page are set at the album level admin screen, but the regular user can sort those thumbs by date, views, or ratings, asc or desc.
The user can also change the viewing size of the thumbnails: small, med, or large. Again, this defaults to the album admin level setting.

Let me just say one more thing... When you install this badboy, you don't have to wade thru 16 (might be an exageration) pages of setup like Gallery--not that that's a bad thing . Rather, it is good to go on the first press of the install button like most Geeklog plug-ins.
