I have just ftp'd geeklog to public_html folder (which is named with domain), and ftp'd the reminder one step above this to html/
On step 1 of installation all appears correct - when I go to step 2 I get the following error !!!

Warning: main(html/idhsgb.com/system/databases/mysql.class.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/users/uks59246/html/system/lib-database.php on line 117

Make sure to use absolute paths in config.php. In your case, $_CONF['path'] should start with /home/users/uks59246/...

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':', expecting ']' in /home/users/uks59246/html/config.php on line 89

and this what I've got -
// Some hosting services have a preconfigured admin directory. In that case,
// you need to rename Geeklog's admin directory to something like "myadmin"
// and change the following URL as well. Leave as is until you experience any
// problems accessing Geeklog's admin menu.
$_CONF['site_admin_url'] = $_CONF[http://www.idhsgb.com/admin/'] . 'admin/';

Apart from it being syntactically wrong (hence the error) - you don't need to change that line at all. Please revert it to its original state which was
Text Formatted Code
$_CONF['site_admin_url']    = $_CONF['site_url'] . '/admin';

bye, Dirk

Your patience and help is very much appreciated - I apologise for being such a dummy with php, but trying to get to grips with it. This what I'm seeing now (which is where I started this thread !!!!)
Warning: main(html/idhsgb.com/system/databases/mysql.class.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/users/uks59246/html/system/lib-database.php on line 117

Looking at config.php from line 114 I see this, but cannot grasp the relevance to this error???
// you shouldn't need to edit theses
$_CONF['path_system'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'system/';
$_CONF['path_log'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'logs/';
$_CONF['path_language'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'language/';
$_CONF['backup_path'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'backups/';
$_CONF['path_data'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'data/';

I've tried changing these to absolute paths - /home/users/uks59246/html/ - but theerror remains the same, so have reverted it ????????? :banghead: :banghead:

Looks like $_CONF['path'] is still wrong. It should be (based on the error message)
Text Formatted Code
$_CONF['path'] = '/home/users/uks59246/html/'
If that's what you have, check the system/databases/ directory and make sure the mysql.class.php file is there.

Please post your $_CONF['path'] and $_CONF['path_html'] if you are still having trouble.

Why don't you show us what $_CONF['path'] is?

Try this instead:
$_CONF['path'] = '/home/users/uks59246/html/';

$_CONF['path_html'] = '/home/users/uks59246/html/idhsgb.com/';

Got the mysql.class.php file in the correct place - I think ??

If this is true, what error are you getting now?

Big Grin Solved this one...thanks everyone..... I was missing a trailing slash at the start of $_CONF['path']
It now sets up tables etc; but when it goes to 'success' page, I get..........
'Unfortunately, an error has occurred rendering this page. Please try again later.' ???????

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I've obviously got the require_once line in lib-common.php WRONG, but just cannot seem to get it to work.
I've changed the site structure by moving all the public_html files into a folder called 'web' - (I want to use a splash index page) - the path is now 'home/users/uks59246/html/idhsgb.com/web/'

I'm not convinced that I've got the config.php (paths) correct, or require_once line in lib-common.php. I get the ''Unfortunately, an error has occurred rendering this page. Please try again later.' error whether I try installing or running check.php.
I'm fin with html, css and javascript, just (really) early days with php.

I've used 4 other cms in the past without any of this (not gonna name them) - why I do much prefer GL !!!!! Mebbe you guys will help me stay with it - is anyone willing to check my config.php, lib-common.php, and anything else that can effect installation ???????

Thanx in advance Confused: Neutral

$_CONF['path'] = '/home/users/uks59246/html/'
$_CONF['path_html'] = '/home/users/uks59246/html/idhsgb.com/web/'
$_CONF['site_url'] = 'http://www.idhsgb.com/web';

in lib-common:
require_once '/home/users/uks59246/html/config.php';

Everything else should default correctly assuming you haven't moved anything.

Nope, haven't moved anything else - copied your instructions EXACTLY, then ran - http://www.idhsgb.com/web/admin/install/check.php

This is what I got - Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/users/uks59246/html/config.php on line 83

????
