I love the look of Geeklog, but when I try to install it... I get this message:
Template Error: set_root: system/install_templates is not a directory.
Halted.
I have installed it MANY times and all the other times I would go to the site and get NOTHING. One fat blank page. What the #@$! am I doing wrong?? Please help me!

Your path settings are wrong. Please post the relevant bits from config.php ($_CONF['path'] etc.).
Also, please keep in mind that you need to use absolute paths, starting at the root of your file system (including a drive letter, if you're on Windows). The "hint" in the install script should give you an idea what an absolute path looks like.
bye, Dirk

I hope you don't mind me hi-jacking this thread, but I am having the same issue, so maybe the fix will work for both of us...
This is from lib-common
require_once( 'C:/phperl2/Websites/Site2/geeklog/config.php' );
I tried using forward slashes instead of back slashes and I also tried using the configure tool that was recomended in another thread. The tool gave me the c:\\path which I also tried to no avail.
Here is from config.php
$_CONF['path'] = 'C:/phperl2/Websites/Site2/geeklog/'; // C:/inetpub/wwwroot/geeklog
// you only need to change this if you moved or renamed the public_html directory
$_CONF['path_html'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'C:/phperl2/Websites/Site2/www/';
// you shouldn't need to edit the following
$_CONF['path_system'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'system/';
$_CONF['path_log'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'logs/';
$_CONF['path_language'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'language/';
$_CONF['rdf_file'] = $_CONF['path_html'] . 'backend/geeklog.rdf';
$_CONF['backup_path'] = $_CONF['path'] . 'backups/';
again I tried changing all these slahes to their oppisite or the double slash.
The path IS correct as far as that is where I moved the public_html folder too and that is where the config.php file it located.
Here is the message I get
Template Error: set_root: C:/phperl2/Websites/Site2/geeklog/C:/phperl2/Websites/Site2/www/layout/XSilver/ is not a directory.
Halted.
I know this is something with my paths... that error pretty much proves it.
This is being installed on a Win98SE test machine with the following versions
Server
Apache/1.3.23 (Win32)
PHP Version
4.2.3
mySQL Version
3.23.49-max-debug
TIA for any help anybody can offer.
Riko

Ahhh I figured out what I was doing there. I was adding the geeklog path to the public_html path when in fact they are side by side. Now I am just getting a blank page though....
