Hello all. I have been running a Geeklog powered site for a while. Everything has been fine, very happy with it - however recently the "What's New" block has not been working properly.
Comments in the last 48 hours tend to not get shown unless you log in. Some users even when logged in still cannot get this functionality to work.
Please visit www.ultramonkey.co.uk to see what I mean.
Cheers,
Steve

There are a few posts about this.
My problem is that only the Root user can see the recent comments in What's New.
My host recently upgraded PHP and applied the Apache security fix, and I think that has something to do with it.
Anybody else made any progress on this?

The same occurs for me under IIS, so I don't think it has to do with apache.
After some investigation, I found that the results are returned oddly. Each row returned consists of a multi-dimensional array (greater than 2 dimensions). As such, the values for all the security are nested below the first level and calls for the various security fields (owner_id, group_id, perm_owner, etc) return nothing. I'm not sure if this has to do with the structure of the sql query or the php function used to parse the results, but at least we know where the problem lies.
Anyone care to comment?

Standard GL groups are recognized fine, but for stories that I assign a
custom group that I created, comments fail to materialize in the What's New
block.
Odd. I can't figure out why it works for the standard GL groups, but not my
new custom groups (to which some users are added). I'm not at work right
now, but I'll verify the security calls to see what is actually getting returned
for stories w/comments with GL groups vs what's returned for stories with
custom groups.
