you can put it anywhere, just define wherever you put it in the code when you insert the function.
like so
<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="341" height="185">
<param name="movie" value="http://something.com/flash.swf">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="SCALE" value="exactfit">
<embed src="http://something.com/flash.swf" width="341" height="185" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" scale="exactfit"></embed></object>
or if it is in the same directory as the call, just put flash.swf

Well, that error message is quite obvious, isn't it? You need to make the userphotos directory writable. Try
chmod 775 userphotos
or, if that doesn't help, try with 777. You may want to apply the same to the images/articles directory.
These chmods are listed in the current installation instructions, but were missing from earlier ones ...
bye, Dirk

Travisaurus.com has flash cooking.
I just added ,, to the allowable html in config.php
also, make sure your permissions are correct for files (775 in most cases)
