I have been working on a site that had 1500 static pages and have hacked the static pages plugin to load pages out of the file system.Basically, the plugin loads the text of a file from the file system and inserts it into the database for searching. It also can rewrite changes made through the web admin back to the file.I made these changes so that the pages could still be edited with dreamweaver to make complicated html.I also wrote a bulk page loader that recursivly adds all the pages into the db.I also hacked in tidy from the wc3 to clean up the html of each page when it is bulk loaded. It also rewrites all the local links to point to the correct static pages. All of this hackery requires changing the static page functions and adds a field to the data base.My question is... Does anyone else care about this code. Should I try to submit this to the base code.and does anyone have any ideas that I should add if do.thanks,Andrew

I'm not sure I completely understand what this hack does but if I'm understanding correctly I think it would be very useful for any site that contains a large number of static pages that need to be updated on a regular basis. I'm exploring using GL for commercial applications and this may make a big difference in how easy I can make it for clients to update their own static pages (clients updating their own pages scares me - this may make it a little less frightening). You should at the very least release the code and let the GL community give you feedback.
