When I try to create a RSS/RDF portal block I get the following error: Parsing error tag mismatch at line 55. I am setting it up as a portal block. This happens no matter what valid url I use.

Parse errors in RSS feeds usually mean that the feeds are not valid XML. URL?

bye, Dirk

Hello Dirk,

I chosed new block, newstest, enabled, portal block, added the Business Week RSS link you suggested, added 1 to the field below and confirmed it, the result was the parse error.

Can you give suggestions please?

I assume you are reffering to our list of RSS feeds in the resources block (Simon collected that list, btw)?

I took the Business Week RSS feed from there and tried to load it in my browser. I get a message telling me that the feed has moved:
If your link points to www.newsisfree.com, simply replace www with xml and remove the HPE/xml in the link

So Geeklog was trying to read this message as if it was an RSS feed, but of course it isn't, hence the parse error ...

So it looks like the new link is

http://xml.newsisfree.com/feeds/34/634.xml

And that works for me.

bye, Dirk

Yes, with that link URL it is working. Big Grin

Thanks, I didn't think it was the URL not correct.

I ask you another question, can these RSS blocks be seen in the central part of the site?

I saw blocks can be placed right or left, why not center?
