many problems

I just moved my site to a new linux server running Apache 2.0 qnd PHP 4. Prior to the move it was working fine but now I am dealing with a few problems that have me stummped. First one being my forum. I am running forum 2.0 plugin and this is the error that the error log is reporting.

1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '' at line 1 SQL in question: SELECT forum FROM gl_forum_topic WHERE id=

The other strange problem I am having is with my login access. It shows me as an admin. I have the admin only block as well, but if I go to the block settings in the admin only area and change a setting in one of my blocks I get this error.

Sorry, you do not have access to the story administration page. Please note that all attempts to access unauthorized features are logged.

When I go to the users section to check my access rights I cant access the page. No errors are given, I am just redirected back to the user list area.

I also can't access the story editor page when hitting the "Get Published" link. Its doesn't kick back any error. It only redirects me to the story list page.

Please help.

Do you have register_globals set to On? Also, make sure your mysql version on Linux is compatible (current or later) with the Windows version you once used.

register_globals is set to on.

I have done some more troubleshooting and this is what I have found. I installed a brand new Geek log most current version on this linux server. Nothing else Created a bran new database for it and logged in as the admin. When I went to the get published page it redirects me again. I never see the story editor page. The link for it flashes in the IE address bar but then quickly changes to the story list page. Also the admin login has the admin only block but any settings such has block settings can not be saved. It just says I don't have access to that feature. When I logout and try to go to the get published link the story editor comes right up. No problem. any Ideas what can cause this problem?

As has been mentioned above, make sure you have register_globals = on.

Also make sure you're running up-to-date versions of Apache and PHP as there were problems with PHP and Apache 2 in earlier versions.

working
Similar problem as above:
•logged in as Admin
•global = On

Tried to remove Poll block.
Getting "Access Denied" box that says "Sorry, you do not have access to story administration...."

Can't disable poll by unchecking box.
Can't submit new links, add stories, etc.
I can change the theme, that's it.
The check.php says installation, permissions ok.

Tried changing permissions in mysql.
Redid chmod, changed to 777.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

I have the same problem concerning the permissions denied when posting new stories on the same platform as the original poster (OS X 10.3). Everything worked fine until I upgraded the server from 10.2 to 10.3 last night - now none of the Geeklog sites I host work correctly. I am unable to submit stories, edit user permissions, or do any other kind of administrative tasks even though the admin panel shows and I am allowed to go at least one level deep into it. Was a fix for this problem ever found?

register_globals is "on"?

Also, are you on Apache 1.3 or 2? All updates installed (i.e. are you running 10.3.4)?

There was also an issue with the MySQL version that Apple shipped with MacOS X Server. If you're on the latest version of MacOS X Server, you may have to reimport your database first to get it to work correctly.

bye, Dirk
