I messed up when installing a plugin and my website got knocked offline. Is there a way to restore the Geeklog index.php file? I get this error message:
Parse error: parse error in /home/indieme/public_html/lib-common.php on line 4210
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: plg_showcenterblock() in /home/indieme/public_html/index.php on line 67

You should first go into the database with phpMyAdmin and make sure the new plugin is disabled. The plugin doesn't modify core tables, does it? If not, then it would be easy enough to delete the tables created by the plugin, along with all of the files associated with it.
You did make a backup of your database before you installed the plugin, right?

No, I got impatient and when I tried to backup in admin it gave me an error message that it wasn't able to make a backup so I just went ahead.
I was trying to install File Management. I did go into lib-common.php and delete the filemgmt text then deleted the other files associated with it. I might have made a mistake in copying all the filemgmt to the public_html by accident.....such as submit.php and index.php.

Ah, if you overwrote files like index.php, you should be able to redownload your version of geeklog and replace those files.
EDIT: And nothing should have been put into the lib-common.php, so careful with what you delete out of there.

FWIW, production sites should have their site running under CVS. That way recovering all files aren't a problem.
The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.
