Have installed forum plugin with success status,
added categories , but the forum main index is not showing up
there is nothing in forum select box,

Did you give group permissions to the new categories?

unable to find this option
have followed the exact steps in install doc,
every thing is working but, there is nothing in select forum select box
no messages body
only header, footer
