Changing chevron in menu plugin

Is there a way to change the '>>' expandin menu indicator in the menu plugin to something like a graphic arrow?

Was it in the documentation? Obviously not!

It might be a good idea to mention it in the README as an option. I didn't bother to look at the config file since I did not need any other option.
