Hide "Views: XX" from everyone except Admin?

Is it possible to hide the view count for stories from everyone except the admin or a select group?

Yes. . . sort of!

In featuredstorytext.thtml and storytext.thtml, you can comment out the views and hits like this:
Text Formatted Code
 <!-- {lang_views}:{story_hits} -->

 

Then, you can view a list of stories and hits (only of your top ten stories) on your statistics page.

On all of my themes, I have removed the menu from the header. I have a 'Statistics' menu item (from the menu plugin) that only I can see.

You can see the hits when you edit the story. They're listed there as well. That's what I do.

commenting out variables in the template files won't actually work to stop the function's output. the output is just commented out. if you view source you'll still see the hits/views.
