forumposts block
I have the forums plugin installed, and the block activated that shows the most recent posts to the forum. It is currently displaying the very latest on a post by post basis. (basically redundant links) I would like to change it so only the most recent post of the thread is linked to. So if I have 5 latest forum posts, it is from 5 different topics. Possible and easy to do?

In addition to my above inquiry, I also want to change the forumposts block so the link descriptions to the threads are more than 18 characters long. And what is the significance of the &fromblock variable? I would like to remove that from the url.

I know the one thing that Blaine doesn't like is posting the same question both here and on his site
There are some questions that only Blaine can answer. He does frequent both sites, but may be too busy to reply on occasion ...
bye, Dirk (yes, I realise that didn't answer your question)

LOL @ the evil face.
I figured as much, I knew that Blaine created the plugin but I try and keep my support questions here ... but he also has a support forum so I get confused where I should go.
Maybe you can answer this though - do you have plans of fully integrating the Forum into Geeklog2, instead of keeping it as a separate plugin? Would make the configuration and tweaks a little more streamlined. The entire comments engine could be handled by the forum engine instead.

(insert usual disclaimer about GL2 being quite some time away)
Actually, in GL2 everything will be a plugin - even the stories. But I imagine that those plugins will have more generic interfaces and better means of integration then.
bye, Dirk

Rick, the block actually supports what you want now. There is a config option in the function that can be set to enable LatestTopicPost only mode - so one listing per topic.
In the plugins/forum/functions.inc - look for function phpblock_forum_newposts() at around line 710. The first few lines of this function are some settings.

It really does not matter to me if users post questions on geeklog.net or on portalparts.com. If the questions are posted in the "plugins" forum on this site I will be notified and know there is a new topic. I don't have notification on to track every new post to the the "General Help" forum so I missed this initially.I just don't want to have to answer the same question on two sites and if I don't it gives the appearance that I am not responding. If anyone spends anytime on the site they will see I am as active on both sites.

Thank you Blaine. Exactly what I needed.
