Howdy guyz,

A few days ago I used to buy hosting serivce @ GoDaddy. Today I'm not quite happy with my decision - especially since I've got some bad problems installing Geeklog. Is there anyone who already managed to install GL on GoDaddy's stuff and is willing to share his how-to? Will be grateful for advices, kind regards - Apoc.

Why not post the problems you encounter? They may not be specific to that hosting service ...

bye, Dirk

I haven't had any problems with them. I also host on my own websites. Which plan are you on?

I think you made a good choice with hosting. Just have to post your errors here.

I not only host with them, geeklog can be installed automatically via checkbox with one of their linux hosting accounts. Then you just configure it. However, what I don't know is whether or not doing advanced stuff is difficult. I haven't gotten very high skill-wise with CMSs in general, so they could still end up not being a good choice. I'd be very surprised though, I know several employees and know many that have used them for years. They don't appear to me to be a company that does things half-way, etc.

Where do I find the checkbox to install Geeklog? I have a Linux hosting account with GoDaddy.

Thanks

I am having the same problem, I got my godaddy site working fine at http://www.mysite.com/geeklog/public_html/ but I can't figure out how to make geeklog the root directory without having .htaccess access which I dont think godaddy allows.
Has anybody been able to do this?

Thanks

You may want to read the bit about public_html in the installation instructions again ...

Also see Alternative installation instructions and Installing Geeklog entirely within the web root

Follow the link that Dirk gave for Installing in the root folder. GoDaddy does allow use of the .htaccess file, because that's how I'm doing it. If you need help creating and using your .htaccess and .htpassword files go here
