Colorized code using enscript

I have written a hack to colorize code using enscript. The details are given at http://aolab.phys.dal.ca/~tomduck/blog/article.php?story=2005121211140458, which gives some nice examples. This also happens to be my first geeklog posting on my first geeklog site.
The only frustration that I have had creating this hack is with how Geeklog handles backslash characters -- it removes them! This is a problem when including code in postings, because backslash characters are frequently used. Using the double-backslash or otherwise modifying the code is not a solution: that is way too error-prone, and the double backslashes are lost when you re-edit the story anyway. Any solutions to this problem would be appreciated.

Strangely enough, the backslashes are not stripped for user comments -- only for stories that are edited. Does anyone have a work-around to avoid having to use double backslashes for story postings?
Thanks,
Tom
