Fatal error after installation of Geeklog 1.4.0sr1

Hello,
Here's my environment: SuSE 10.0/x64 on Athlon64 - Apache 2.0.53, php4.4.0. I upgraded mySQL to 5.0. I have a phpBBS system in place on this machine, so I know php 4.4.0 is working OK with mySQL 5.0.
I created the database "geeklog", following all the installation instructions.
I then successfully installed Geeklog 1.4.0sr1, at least it created the mySQL tables, and gave me the after installation instruction webpage. But when I tried to go the Geeklog home page, I got the following error message:
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'HTTP/Request.php' (include_path='/usr/share/php') in /srv/www/htdocs/geeklog-1.4.0sr1/system/classes/syndication/parserfactory.class.php on line 31
OK, looks like an apache problem, maybe. I have the following setup in apache:
Alias /geeklog "/srv/www/htdocs/geeklog-1.4.0sr1/public_html/"
Options Indexes Includes
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
Does anyone have any ideas what I did wrong here?
Thanks, Chris

I had php 4.4.0 and the php4pear module installed, but somehow that didn't work.
I changed the config.php back this way:
$_CONF['have_pear'] = false
and that worked!
Thanks,
Chris
