media gallery help

I've just installed the media gallery successfully, but I don't know how to upload media. I've read the docs and it said:

To create an album in Media Gallery, select the Create Album option from the Admin dropdown menu...

Um..what dropdown menu? I looked in the admins only section and also the user functions and I can't find a "create album" option dropdown. All I see when i'm in the admin of the media gallery are headings of "config, EXIF/IPTC Administration, Usage Reports, etc".

Also, when I try to configure, a page comes up like this:

Media Gallery Directory Structure
public_html/mediagallery/mediaobjects/orig/1----------NOT Writable
public_html/mediagallery/mediaobjects/orig/2----------NOT Writable
public_html/mediagallery/mediaobjects/orig/3----------NOT Writable
public_html/mediagallery/mediaobjects/orig/4----------NOT Writable

I think it's some problem with my permissions. does anyone know how i can fix it?

oh, and does anyone use MIG (my images gallery)? I'm wondering why my folders under the "albums" directory won't show up.

as in, I can put pictures directly into the "albums" folder and they'll show, but if i put pictures into a subdirectory (ie. holidays photos album), nothing shows up at all, and a "no contents" messages is displayed. any suggestions?

It is your permissions, I got the same problem the first time I attempted an upload. A manual fix should do the trick.

Andy is correct, all the directories under mediaobjects/* need to be writable by the web server.

As for creating the album, most of the 'media' type administration is built into the Media Gallery user interface. So if you select 'Media Gallery' or goto /mediagallery/index.php, you will see a message stating "No albums exist", but if you are the admin, you will also see a dropdown menu in the upper right hand corner with an option to 'Create Album'. Select it, it the album created and the select that new album, you'll see another dropdown menu with options to add media.

That should get you started.

Thanks!
Mark
