Hope you can help, recently I tried to created a new user account from the Admin login and got the following error. Not sure where the "sig" is or refers to but this is the error I got:
Field 'sig' doesn't have a default value. SQL in question: INSERT INTO gl_users (username,email,regdate,cookietimeout,passwd,fullname,homepage)

The 'sid' is your signature (see My Account).
On a standard Geeklog install, it does have a default value, though:
Check the definition in phpMyAdmin, if you have that. It's in the gl_users table.
