I recently went to GL1.5.1 and I've just discovered that when I'm logged in as a story/link editor (i.e. moderate privileges) and try to create a new link, or submit one, the pull down list of Category options only lists root.

When I log out and log in as full Admin, then it's okay, all the categories are listed.

Is this a known bug?

The user needs edit access to the links category. So make sure that the "Group E" checkbox is checked to the categories that you want them to be able to edit.

In a way, the categories are working similar to the story topics now.

OK, so I go to Admin / Links / List Categories and then edit each category, ticking group edit access.

Seems a little strange, in that if a very basic user submits a link they can choose the category, whereas if someone with link edit privilege tries to submit a link they can't set the category - unless I implement the suggestion above.

Anyway, I've done as suggested thanks and works fine thanks..

On closer inspection: They don't really work like topics yet. If you don't have edit access for the category, you shouldn't even be able to edit the link.



Right, that's another difference to the behavior of topics: When you can see a topic, you can submit a story for it, independent of the role. It should work like this for links and categories, too. In other words: A bug.
