The Geeklog Wiki may be down for a few days while Tom Willet (who's hosting it) is moving. We'll let you know when it's back up.

I read the message below mine, 'I'm an idiot'. Oh how wrong you are!!!
I AM an idiot. So I go to my website control panel and have a good nosey around. I find geeklog. Looks and sounds amazing. However, like I said, I am an idiot. I have no idea what it is, what to do with it or how it can help me. If somebody could explain it to me as you would to a four year old (as against 44!) I will be able to use it, and of course, make a donation.
Apologising in advance for my utter lack of knowledge. As my techno whizz kid mate keeps saying, I am a 'Shameful, geekless sham'!

You seem to have missed that helpful "What is Geeklog?" box we have on the front page (right side), complete with Wikipedia links.

You've heard of Wikipedia, I assume? That's a wiki. And it even explains what a wiki is ;-)

Things are not always what they seem Dirk. Although I am a complete idiot, I am not stupid. I did not "miss" 'What is [a] Geeklog', I read it, but it made me non-the-wiser. I tried to find more information on the net, still couldn't find a simple-for-techno-simpletons explaination. So I thought that I'd go to the support (?) forum, and explain as honestly as I could that I have designed a web site using MicroIdiot Frontpage, uploaded it, and now would like someone who is less of a geekless sham than myself, to kindly explain to me in terms that I can understand, just what I can do with this highly-acclaimed download. I WAS idiotic enough however, to believe that somebody actually would. Thanks for your help Dirk, it was .... immeasurable.

Sorry, but I don't really know how to explain it any clearer without resorting to writing a minor epic. If you don't know what a CMS is, for example, then that's okay, but that's also why we provide a link to Wikipedia there (which explains it much better than I could).

Actually, now that I re-read the Wikipedia page, I think that we should better be linking directly to the Web content management system page, which also explains the difference between using a CMS and Frontpage (since you mentioned it).

Thank you Dirk. That was infinitely more helpful. It has also given me tons of different links that have explained even more stuff to me. I was under the impression that Frontpage was a program that made it simple for people with no knowledge at all to create a reasonable site. Now I am finding that this is not the case. My only criticism of your reply now is that I'm gonna be sat here all night playing around and experimenting.
