the dvd cases that get mailed out with the AOL cd's were a nice gift... for my extra ps2 games :)

Until recently I would have responded 'none'. But recently I saw clocks for sale, where the face was the shiney side of a CD painted with a picture or design. I thought that to be an innovative use of CD's. Since the other side was obscrured I could not tell if the CD's were from AOL. They could have been defective CD's purchased by the seller for some trivial price.

They work great to signal rescuers/aircraft in a survival situation. The center hole can be used to 'aim' the reflection just like signal mirrors that are designed for this purpose. Not that anyone would be ever lost in the wilderness with an AOL disk on hand. :)

I used one of the teeny AOL CDs that came through my door to apply fresh filler into the cracks in the bathroom ceiling when I couldn't find my trowel. The added bonus was that after applying a little too much pressure, the CD snapped in half, leaving me with TWO little Trow-O-L® tools, plus better control over the application of plaster into all those difficult to reach places! What a result! :-)

A fun game for the kids is to throw them into your pool...wait till the sink(oh and they sink fast :) ) and try to get as many as possible without going up for air!

Or you can have them recycled and turned into something usefull!!!

Seriously.. so my "UBER"net frienldy AOL user calls and mentions that he read ::: ya - ha can read ::: that if you play the AOL CD backwards you heard demonic chants.. So I tell him to hold onto his seat, it gets Worse !!! If you play it forwards, it actually installs that Piece of Shit App !

Moreover, the scales will make the vehicle waterproof and provide added protection against the huge pressures encountered down in the depths of the ocean.

Having done that, drive off the end of a long pier into a large body of water and marvel at all the new underwater friends you'll be making.

I prefer to take the AOL CDs, place them in the microwave for about 10 seconds (it makes them spark a bunch, but it could be dangerous, so be careful, don't do anything stupid), then break it apart (again, not necessarily the best thing to do - those plastic splinters hurt, so use pliers or something), and take one of those lighter things for the grill and melt parts of the old CD together... it looks cool, and it's fun to do, but then again, I'm a pyro. :)

I have a neighbor who has hung a whole bunch of AOL, Compuserve,
etc. CDs from limbs on the trees in his front yard. I asked him about it,
and apparently the colors and reflections and constant motion (when it is
windy) keeps the birds away from his garden.

What about taking the idea one step further and creating a massive, highly mobile, Earth-orbiting, precisely aligned super-array of the aforementioned LOL CDs to gather and concentrate the rays of the Sun and focus them onto a target of your choice on the Earth below. This super weapon can be used to destroy radar installations and fry infrastructure in enemy command centres. It will bring about the age of truly pinpoint accurate attacks and do away with the need for bunker-busting nuclear warheads.

With enough of them and a low power (like flourescent) light source, you can make some nifty artdeco lamps. Just stack em up and put your small blacklight tube down the center.... Or apply superglue, and make some cool reflective lampshades. With proper application of black spraypaint (say, to obscure the aol logo side) or any other color for that matter, you can create some interesting effects. Just prime them the same way you prime plastic models for painting. Hmmm using a wannabe illumanati's propaganda to illuminate your life?

They also make a great cat toy. Just roll your free AOL cd across the floor, or throw it across a room, then shine a light on it and watch you cat attack! Good for burning off some energy. My cat's faster than AOL broadband!!

I've found that AOL CDs can be quite usefull when mounted to a ply-wood board, using them as a reflective sheild during paintball wars. Ninja Stars is of course a classic. I like to throw them out the passenger side window while driving by pedestrians.

You need 12 discs, 30 thin cable binders an a 3mm drill.
- drill five holes, one every 72°, near the perimeter.
- take 3 disks and 3 cable binders, connect the the discs to a triangle by using two neigboured holes on every disk.
- connect the next disc in the same way and so on.
The result is a football-sized dodecahedron.

my friend and I have a back and forth game of "where's the aol cd" going on. I've stashed them in his shoes at home while he's not looking while finding them throughout my home and car.

a while back and placed them all over the exterior of his car while it was snowing, he had a nice surprise waiting for him the next morning.

i've got about 25 of them now, just waiting for a good opportunity.
