Hello. I have my Geeklog up and running, but almost every page contains this error: Warning: fopen("/home/caseyne/public_html/logs/error.log", "a"Wink - No such file or directory in /lib-common.php on line 810 Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /lib-common.php on line 813 Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /lib-common.php on line 741 Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? I thought I had all paths set correctly, but I'm not even sure where to start looking for a wrong setting. Thanks! Site URL is http://www.caseynet.com

I would try chmod 775 first, because 777 makes the file writable for all users, which is not the best decision. chmod 775 should do in most cases (and its also mentioned in the INSTALL file, which is very good imho)

Normally I'd agree, and I was going to mention it but 775 does not work for me. In fact, on our server, setting the logs, backend and images directories to 775 still creates the same permissions error even though we are the owners, grp permission are correct etc. Since this directory is NOT supposed to be in the web tree then it's not a big problem IMHO. For example: /logs --> path/to/geeklog/ --> /var/www /public_html --> path/to/geeklog/ --> /var/www/html Access to /logs should not be possible to anyone if you have positioned your files correctly. knuckles

I was under the impression that geeklog ran as the web user (usually named after the server in question). If it is and not running under your uid, then just chmod 775 and chgrp/chown to the web user uid. A problem I sometimes have is the parent directory permissions where a file needs to be created. If they arent set right, it'll refuse to write. Don't know if this helps, I only posted cause you mentioned that you were the owner for the premissions....

My ftp client doesn't use the 775 or 777 shorthand; so is 775 all permissions (except world write)? And is 777 all permissions to everyone?
