Couldn't install!

It took me days trying to figure how to install GeekLogs and didn't really worked! I did tried to make sure my config.php were configured correctly and tried to reinstall it severl times!
what happened was when I got into http://yourdomainname/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php.. Follow through until got into 3rd step, and it redirected me to blank (error404) page!!
I did checked my database, and the tables already have been added! So I decided to retry the installation, and it said I already have the tables (so no need to reinstall)!!
what should I do?!! what did I do wrong?
thanks,
Jax

Now what exactly did you get? A blank page or a 404 page? It can't be both ...
If you get a 404, make sure you have $_CONF['site_url'] set up correctly to point to where index.php and lib-common.php reside.
If you get a blank page, make sure the path to your config.php in lib-common.php is correct.
In either case, it sounds like it is just a problem with setting up the correct paths and/or URLs, so there's no need to run the install script again.
bye, Dirk

I am installing GL for the first time and went through something similar to
what you described. My issue had to do with file paths, I really didn't
know where to install everything, it is probably obvious to someone with
systems experience, but I didn't know the best file structure for the GL
files.
I installed the files with the same hierarchy of folders as happens when
they are decompressed onto the desktop, and I found that the
success.php file was not accessible by the GL install.php script. It had to
do with the public_html folder layer being in the file path or not. I
duplicated the whole public_folder contents and put it at the same level
as the public_html directory was and it worked.
I assume that I installed everything one level too deep, meaning that
everything higher than public_html should be installed above my own
public html folder level, but I have virual hosting and don't have
permission, possibly this is a huge security issue, I will investigate this
and take advice.
Another thing I did was change the permissions to 777 for the
recommended files and directories listed in the install instructions (versus
775) as recommmended. I wouldn't work with just 775.
my GL works now though and I think it is fantastic so far.
