installed but with problems

Hey everyone, people here have been real nice to me by helping me install my geeklog , but theres one more problem. I've installed the script and it runs but i always get these errors:

You did not chmod the logs directory and the error.log file in there, or at least not correctly.
If you still have your install directory, use the script in public_html/admin/install/check.php - it will check the file permissions for you and will suggest what needs to be done.

Hello Dirk, I did what you told me to and when I checked I got the following that made no sense to me:
Testing logs directory /path/myhost.com/httpdocs/logs/ ... Could not open error.log and access.log for writing. Please check that you have set the logs directory and the files error.log and access.log in that directory to chmod 775.
Current permissions for logs: 775
Current permissions for error.log: 775
Current permissions for access.log: 775
I just dont understand how it can say I failed the test because my file permissions are fine.
