Bilingual site

I try to make a bilingual site with Geeklog 1.3.5sr2. The behaviour of the language file is clear. But what about the sections and menu names? I can make these items in both language version, but how to control, which section/menu appears in which language version? Make it sense to have other language files without the possibility to translate sections/menu names? That's the problem of almost every weblog/portal software I have found on the net. (Also, not all items are placed in the language file... - some of them are hardcoded in *.php or *.thtml - right?).

I'm afraid it's not possible to make a truly bilingual site with the current versions of Geeklog. The block titles, for example, are stored in the database, as are the posting options for stories ("Plain Old Text", "HTML Formatted"). So these will not change when you switch the language file. I don't see an easy way to fix that in the 1.3 branch ...

Some things will improve with 1.3.6, though. As you noted, there was still a lot of hard-coded English in the template files. This has been fixed for 1.3.6.

I know that euan is running a bilingual site in English and Japanese - maybe this will give you some ideas...

bye, Dirk
