story editor and html tags

I use the story editor to post and explain bash scripts and often need to use the html tags (> and <Wink as well as backslash. I have tried everything down to using the &#xx; values -- but as soon as I edit a story with any of those in it it has been converted to the lt/gt tags .. and in case of the backslash it's just plain gone. (In fact even the preview seems to insist in "correcting" these) I'd love to see a UBB story editor like that used in most web forum software these days, including vbb, ubb etc. Not only would it solve this problem, it does what 99% of users need and it is much easier to write a page, not having to remember to put in <br> tags eveywhere and not having to use &whatever notation all the time when tags are needed. In fact, I resert to write my stories in Dreamweaver, then copy and paste them into GL. I think UBB would make posting much easier. Not necessarily as a change to GL but perhaps as a plugin. I know I could just use "plain old text" but I need at least two different fonts + bold and italics variations.

When posting portions of code, you can use the
Text Formatted Code
 ...
pseudo tag that Geeklog provides as of version 1.3.6 (be aware, though, that currently only one such
Text Formatted Code
section per story is really working - a bug that has been discussed here before).

The use of a ubb-alike Geeklog Markup Language has been discussed for Geeklog 2 ...

Thanks for the
Text Formatted Code
hint .. I saw it mentionned somewhere else and tried it already though - and it doesn't solve the particular problem I mention here - the tags are being replaced anyway. Besides I usually have several parts of scripts within my text so once wouldn't cut it.

Would look forward to see a UBB module at some time - prefereably sooner rather than later :)

What do you mean "the tags are being replaced anyway"? Anything between
Text Formatted Code
 and
should be printed verbatim, i.e. just as you typed it. If not, then this may be a bug ... Jim Weller already posted a fix for the problem with multiple code sections in http://www.geeklog.net/article.php?story=20021013054525565 bye, Dirk
