I have a system set up that users can't do anything except read. Yes, it sort of defeats the purpose of an interactive system but I'm using geeklog as more of site building engine than a blog. I found sort of a bug in the system on the page when you view an event you get the mini-menu bar of [ Add An Event ][ Back to Calendar ] with the "Add an Event" link being http://www.foobar.com/submit.php?type=event. You can also see the "Add Event" buttons on the http://www.foobar.com/calendar.php pages too. Where and what do I need to change to block these non-user abilities? Non-user being, I guess, an unregistered user abilities? suggestion: It might be nice to have an edit link on the same page that you view the event in detail is on. ie: [ Add An Event ][ Back to Calendar ]-> [ Add An Event ][ Back to Calendar ][Edit Event] page=http://www.foobar.com/calendar_event.php?mode=&eid=34857345749387. That way the admin or whoever can easily edit that event with less of an hassle.

I wouldn't consider this a bug since, as you said, it kind of defeats the idea of interactivity. And you can easily remove the link yourself, since it's held in a template file: layout/YourTheme/calendar/events.thtml

As for the suggested edit link: You might want to submit that as a feature request.

bye, Dirk

Thank you for the heads up on the template and for the features link. I'm still getting used to things here, I'm more of a forum guy than a blog type. I mentioned that I'm locking down what regular users can do as a way to visualize what I'm doing. But if a user has zero priviledges I had thought they should have zero priviledges and not zero + posting to calendar priviledges. hmm ... I guess this sort of goes hand in hand with my dynamic menu idea. Which then is a feature request buy at the same time still makes me wonder if it isn't a bug. sorry for being persistant.
