I just checked my site and all of the stories have disappeared! I browsed the actual tables and they're empty. The other GL tables seem to be OK (users, topics, etc.) It must have been something that a user did but I don't know what. Are there log files I can check?
I did a GL backup about a week ago. How do I go about restoring? It's a painful less and now I guess I'm more interested in how this could have happened.
Thanks,

Sorry to hear that :-(
The only thing that I could think of is a missing sanity check in admin/story.php that could cause this when using an incomplete language file. But it would also mean that the person would have at least StoryAdmin access.
You could have a look at Geeklog's log files (error.log and access.log in the logs directory) and see if anything can be found there (though I doubt it ...).
Let us know about your findings.
bye, Dirk

Most of my users do have story admin access. I'll check the log files. I did manage to restore--it was actually very straightforward once I read through some postings. You can definitely learn alot when something like this happens ;-)
I'd like to have a script that does an automatic back-up once a day. I don't have access to a cron jobs.
Thanks,
Bob

You could run cron locally (there are windows versions), and use mysqldump.exe (again copied locally) to connect to your remote sql server and make a local backup
