I'm using a new install of gl 1.3.6 and I can't get polls to work. I create a poll, click on the "Appears on Homepage" checkbox, set the mode to "normal" and "comments enabled". I give access to "All Users" Go to the home page, it's not there. Go to any other page, it's not there. I can click on "polls" and see the poll, with zero votes for every answer. What do I have to do to get this to work?

Have you played around with your blocks? My hunch is you changed something on the poll block in admin/block.php (like delete it or set permisisons too strict) or you may have accidentally delete it from the database OR changed the block name for the poll block (a definite no-no). --Tony---The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

I found the problem: I had gone into the "blocks" settings and turned off the "poll" block by clicking the "enable" checkbox. It's logical, but it was confusing that there should be controls for "polls" which don't configure everything about polls. You have to go somewhere else to control whether polls are visible at all. Is there any way to get a block (in this case the poll block) to occupy the middle part of the layout, so it gets more room?
