Search results by topic: Essential if GL is going to be a knowledge management tool

I posted this before, but didn't receive a response despite 20+ views to date...

is there any way to have search results listed by topic (e.g. by Got Geeked, GeekLog, Announcements, etc.) instead of just being presented in reverse chronological order?

If this is NOT possible, it would be helpful to know that too, so I can switch my knowledge management attentions to another weblog/CMS system.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

You would need to hack search.php in order to do so. More than that I cannot say, but perhaps someone else would be willing to help you out in exchange for a small contribution.---L. Whitworth www.finiserv.com

Correct, you would need to hack that script. Also, check out the doucmentation on mysql.com, they support full text searches which would be *very* cool if anybody was up to the challenge on rewritting search.php for GL 1.3.x ---The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

I'm not exactly sure by what Tony means by a "full text search", but there is a nice mod to search.php available that makes it search for items with all words in the search string. See this story. I had it working on my site for awhile, but I replaced search.php when I integrated phplinks, and I haven't yet gone back and integrated this other hack. Maybe this weekend.
