Hello, I am using geeklog in Japanese for about 6 month in http://mole.leh.kagoshima-u.ac.jp/knews Well, I can't submit stories and other things. When I (as root) try to create new stories or things from admin, it just go back to admin page. Also, anonymous user can't submit story. He can write a story but when he push 'submit' button, it go back to an empty submit screen. (As you push 'get published' from the top screen) Well, is it a geeklog problems or my environment went wrong? My environment is as follows: System: Debian(Sid) Geeklog 1.3.7 PHP:4.2.3 Mysql:11.18

When I go to http://mole.leh.kagoshima-u.ac.jp/knews/submit.php?type=link to submit a new link, I'm taken to the story submission page instead. This, together with your description, indicates that you have register_globals=off. bye, Dirk

I have had the same problem too at g-comm.net and euans.net (the g-comm.net site japanese language file is in a mess at the moment). I think that this is a problem with shift-jis and euc encoding - maybe jis corrupts when Geeklog pages are produced? I'm trying to translate all my pages into euc (all stories at the moment are jis, language files in euc!) and see if that fixes the submission problem.---Cheers, Euan.

Thanks Dirk and Euan, When I change the register_globals to On, the problem has solved. Well, We should make an FAQs somewhere. If we have the project, I want to help it. (I have met a lot of problems in this 6 months, because I haven't read all the documents well enough :-) )

There is an FAQ and it does mention register_globals - though not in the context of your problem.

Also, when you run the install script, it does a check for register_globals and displays a warning if it is off ...

bye, Dirk
