Left and Right Block Widths

Can someone tell me where the left and right block width setting are usually located. I am modifying a theme and can't seem to find them. Many thanks Wayne

Most themes use a 'blind gif' stretched to the width they want in leftblocks.thtml and rightblocks.thtml. E.g. from the XSilver theme's leftblock.thtml: <img src="{site_url}/images/speck.gif" width="180" height="1" alt=""> bye, Dirk

Why is only my admin left block width bigger than on other pages? Not sure where to fix it. I'm searching the forums & faqs.
