I am using 1.3.7.sr1. When I try to email an story to a friend, I notice that the story gets truncated. In one case, it truncates after 2,493 words. Is this due to a "limit" on the size of story? Looking at config.php, which states: // Specify length of stories in those emails: // 0 = send only title + link, 1 = send entire introtext, // any other number = max. number of characters per story $_CONF['emailstorieslength'] = 1; I have the following questions: 1. how do I go about setting max? I tried setting the number to 2 but my mail is still truncated at the same point. 2. is there a code that allows for the entire story to be sent? 3. Interesting to note that the entire story (less truncated text) go out if it is set to 1 - shouldn't it just send entire "introtext" and not introtext and bodytext? You seem to be confusing two separate features here: The settings in config.php apply to what is called the "daily digest", i.e. an automated email that has the new stories of a day. This needs to be activated in config.php and you will need a cronjob to call the emailgeeklogstories script (that ships with Geeklog) from this cronjob once per day. The "mail story to a friend" feature has nothing to do with the "daily digest". It already sends the full text of the story. Not sure why it's truncating the story for you, though ... bye, Dirk

Thank you Dirk for responding and pointing out the confusion. Has anyone else encountered having any truncation with emailing stories to friends? If so, were you able to fix the problem? Thank you.

The problem isn't with the no of words. It appears to be a problem caused by HTML Formatted text. Emailing a friend with any stories submitted using "plain old text" Post Mode goes through without any problems. However, when emailing any HTML-Formatted stories, the story get's truncated.

You can change the body column type from "text" to "longblob" in the mysql database
