New Theme, Different Colored Links in CSS
Anonymous
Anonymous
I have a problem here. I am making a new theme and I need links to be different colors in different locations. I am aware that you can do this in style sheets with the a:whatever {stuff} and I am aware that you can do it for each individual link a.class:whatever{stuff}. My problem is my left and right columns are dark I want light colored links. My middle column is white and I need dark colored links. It appears that all these links are made dynamically. I don't see a link tag anywhere where I can put the class to change the color of the links. I also haven't figured out a way to put the class in like a td or div or something to get the color changed on the links I think it only works with a:whatever. So I'm just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and have come to a concolusion on how to fix it.Thanks,Warren

Look for the <td>s that start the left, right, and center columns and add a class to those. The actual place may vary from theme to theme, but it's usually in the header.thtml and footer.thtml template files.

Well that really wasn't my questioned but I figured it out. I didn't know how to assign the a:link to a class But I figured it out. When defining the class in the css you put a space .classname a:link{ whatever }

Well, you didn't ask this in your post. Be clearer next time.

Ummm.. well thanks, I was being as clear as I could when I asked the question I spent probably 3 hours finding out the answer to this one. I never did find a site that explained that you could do it that way, all the sites just told about putting the class in the <a href>. I finally figured it out by looking at another sites css. But thanks for your suggestion for being more clear. Next time I ask a question I'll ask the question with the answer in it that way everybody will no what the answer is and it'll be more easy to answer.

Aaah, why don't you try reading your original post here again. This time try and comprehend the actual words you used and not what you expected others to read into them. Dirk answered the question you asked. If you didn't know how to specify a link in a style sheet, then you should have asked this instead or in addition.
As long as you can't figure out how to ask clear questions on the real issue as opposed to rambling around on the fringes, you will continue to spend hours and hours trying to get answers. Maybe you need to experience this multiple times before you open your eyes.
